Overview

The W.E. Graham Community Service Society (WEGCSS) is non-profit society and registered Canadian charity located in the village of Slocan, British Columbia, Canada. The Society serves the village of Slocan as well as the outlying rural communities of the SlocanValley, a service area which encompasses most of Area H of the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

The Society was incorporated in 1997 and received funding originally through a provincial initiative that supported the establishment community schools. The first focus of the organization was primarily on providing services and support for youth and their families. Over time, many additional services were provided to increase the capacity of the community and address local needs. WEGCSS now hosts a Food Bank, Child Care Centre, Youth Centre, Seniors Luncheon, Counselling services, Art Therapy and more, while also serving as a fiscal agent for various other community-based efforts.

WEGCSS is managed by a 9 member board of directors along with a team of staff, including a part-time Executive Director, a full-time Office Manager, a custodian and several programme leaders. There are also over 60 volunteers who assist with a variety of tasks, and a membership base of over 80 supporters.
